You may be thinking what does that have to do with me...well, the lesson I learned was that you should NEVER trust the generic drivers that Microsoft provide...in the same way that Movie Maker falls over if everything is not exactly right...so do their drivers and you may never be aware of it.

Since MM 2 does not crash when using sample video files from MS, I seriously doubt any of your solutions could point to the cause. If you find that renaming another .ax file than these seven resolves your problem, please let us know by posting on microsoft.public.windows.moviemaker or sending me an email.
